Recruitment for the Research Group of Prof. JP Hugnot in Jinfeng Laboratory

1.Introduction of Jinfeng Laboratory

Jinfeng Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as the laboratory) is a science and technology innovation center to implement the development strategy of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle and construct a scientific and technological innovation center with national influence. As the "Top Project" of the Western China (Chongqing) Science City, Jinfeng Laboratory keeps improving the strategic scientific and technological strength by putting the whole city's efforts together. Jinfeng Laboratory covers an area of 85,333 square meters in total, with a construction area of 135,000 square meters. Besides, it has 300,000 square meters supporting construction of high-end talent housing and 733333 square meters of Fengqi Lake Park.

The laboratory is a new type of research and development institution with independent legal personality, and implements the director responsibility system under the leadership of the Council.  With the next-generation diagnosis of critical diseases as its core mission, and the original theoretical innovation and basic theoretical breakthrough of key technology "bottleneck" as its primary goals, the laboratory gathers large numbers of talented people to commit themselves to the sciences, further builds a scientific research matrix to well-organizely  conduct the scientific research, trying to create an open, hub-type and platform-type technological innovation highland and make itself as the "new model" of Chongqing laboratories and the "new force" of national laboratories.

2.The Recruitment Position

Two postdoctoral researchers wanted in the research group of Prof. JP Hugnot in Jinfeng Laboratory.

3.Detailed Information

3.1.Introduction of  the Principal Investigator

Jean-Philippe Hugnot is a Principal Investigator of Jinfeng laboratory, Full Professor in Neuroscience and Cellular Biology of University of Montpellier, France. He is also the Co-Director of the “Brain plasticity, stem cells and low grade gliomas” team of Institute of Functional Genomics of University of Montpellier. Prof. JP Hugnot earned PhD at Cochin Hospital, Paris in 1993 and earned HDR(Certification of directing research) at University of Montpellier in 2007.

As a Principal Investigator of Jinfeng Laboratory, Prof. JP Hugnot will be directing a research team focus on IDH1-mutant gliomas. Prof. JP Hugnot's research team in France has already obtained findings concerning III/IV IDH1-mutant gliomas, his team of Jinfeng Laboratory will develop the findings by expanding the number of cell lines of this biobank and characterize it extensively to identify new targets for therapy and will also develop new methodology of research.

3.2.The project

Low grade gliomas are incurable brain tumors mainly affecting young patients. The postdoc researcher will develop a new project leveraging a recently-established and unique low grade glioma cell line biobank. He/she will work autonomously in interaction with JP Hugnot with the help of skilled technicians and students. She/he will develop a research program based on high throughput technologies (scATAC seq, proteomic, etc.) to explore genes, pathways and drugs regulating the self-renewal and differentiation of low grade glioma cells at the epigenetics, genetics and proteomic levels. He/she will also have opportunities to isolate and characterize new low grade glioma cell lines in collaboration with neurosurgeons.

3.4.Your qualifications

We are seeking a dedicated postdoctoral researcher with a track record of good publications. The ideal candidate should possess a background in brain cellular biology and stem cells with expertise in brain cancers and high-throughput approaches being highly advantageous. Demonstrated autonomy in research, including the ability to mentor PhD students and technicians, coupled with excellent communication skills, will be valuable assets for this position.
